Buying Nursing Shoes – You have just got a phone call from the hospital and you have been informed that they have accepted your application for a job as a nurse. It is expected that you would jump for joy and tell your family and friends about the good news. However, before you take your celebration any further, you should also be ready with the uniform that you are going to wear. One important thing that you should not forget is the pair of nursing shoes that would go along with your upper attire. It is best that you know what factors you should remember as you go out to shop for such shoes.
One of the first things to consider is uniformity. Since you are going to work in a hospital, it is best that you find out whether there is a certain dress code to follow. This could mean that you may have to wear a uniform; attire that is similar as those of the other nurses. If this is the case, then you may have to make sure that the shoes are also in accordance to the said dress code. In this regard, you may not be able to freely choose the style and color because you have to abide to the rules.
Your foot is the best determinant when it comes to the size of the shoes that you are getting. This rule is not just applicable to shoes worn for your duties as a nurse. This goes the same to your casual footwear. In order to make sure that you make the right choice, you have to fit the shoes first before actually buying it. This should not be difficult to do because the salespersons at a footwear shop would surely allow you to do this. Make sure that the shoes fit comfortably to your feet.
Safety is another important consideration. Although you are not working in a hazardous environment, your shoes should still make feel safe somehow. It should have soles that could support you even when the floor is wet and slippery. As a nurse, there would be times when you have to run on hospital hallways a lot of times. If the floor is slippery and your shoes do not guarantee safety, you could slip and become a patient yourself.
The price of the nursing shoes should be the least concern. If a pair of such shoes passes the standards mentioned above, then these may be good choices even if these are expensive. However, if you just become more diligent in your shopping, you may be able to find a pair that is not very expensive. Make it a point to have a pair that is of good quality without costing too much.
